DEATH CALLS OLD CITIZEN
WILLIAM G. WRIGHT PASSED AWAY LATE SATURDAY NIGHT AFTER A SHORT ILLNESS
William G. Wright who recently underwent an operation at the Iowa Sanitarium passed away on Saturday night at 11:30 in the eightieth year of his life.
Mr. Wright was born in Prescott, Ontario on August 2nd 1887. He was educated at the place and came first to Chicago when he was about eighteen years of age. He died no stay there long however but journeyed to California where he remained for five years, returning to Chicago and marrying Margaret Leora Gary, who survives him. They were married at Warrenville, Illinois on New Years day 1866 and soon afterward moved to Iowa locating in Ames, where the deceased entered the hardware business which he followed in our neighboring city for twenty or twentyfive years.
It was in 1898 that the family moved to Nevada, Mr. Wright being engaged at that time as a traveling salesman and he remained in this occupation up till two years ago.
He and his wife celebrated their golden anniversary of their wedding on New Years day in 1916 surrounded by their family and friends in their home here. He has always been a leader in religious and temperance work in the community where ever he lived and was the oldest chaplain of the Gideon organization, which is a body of Christian traveling men, who have made such a successful effort to supply the hotels of the United States with bibles for each guest room. He was the oldest chaplain in this society in the United States.
Besides his widow, Mr. Wright is survived by four children, Mrs. Andrew M. Ringheim, of Nevada; Clair G. Wright of Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. Frank S. Cummins of Des Moines and W. G. Wright of this city.
The funeral services will be held on Tuesday from the Presbyterian church, the services being conducted in the absence of the pastor, by Mrs. Leitch and the interment will be made in Nevada cemetery.
