JOSEPH FISH

Joseph Fish was born in Indiana seventy nine years ago last January and died very suddenly at the home of his son William at McCallsburg Saturday, July 7, 1917. Mr. and Mrs. Fish came to Story county, Ia., many years ago and lived on a farm six miles north of Colo. Later they moved to Kansas but after a few years they returned to Story county and lived on a farm about five miles south west of Colo until the death of his wife nearly five years ago. Since then he has spent the winters with his daughter Mrs. Nora Dewey at Chenute, Kan., and the summers with his sons at their respective homes. The home of Mr. and Mrs. Fish was a place where every one loved to go. "Uncle Joe and Aunt Harriet" they were lovingly called, not only by their many relatives but also a wide circle of friends who dearly loved them.

They were loyal members of the Church of God. Mr. Fish had not enjoyed very good health for some time but he was able to be around and appeared as well as usual. Death came very suddenly and quietly, the cause was heart trouble. He leaves to mourn their loss five sons, Arthur of near Denver, Colorado; Sam of Chanute, Kan.; Isaac of near Maxwell; Wm. of McCallsburg and Ora of Villard, Minn., and one daughter Mrs. Nora Dewey of Chenute, Kan., thirty-one grand children, besides many other relatives and a host of friends. The children were all present at the funeral excepting Sam who was unable to come. Funeral services were held in the Church of God in Nevada township at 10 a. m. Tuesday conducted by Elder E. G. Marsh of Marshalltown. Interment was made in Nevada beside his wife. Sincere sympathy is extended to the bereaved ones.
