OBITUARY

Ellen May Donahue was born at Homer Station, Ill., March 3, 1862, and died at Mercy hospital in Iowa City June 6, 1917 aged 55 years, 3 months and 3 days. El Paso, Ill., was her home during early life. Feb. 20, 1882 she was united in marriage to D. A. Cannon. Eight children were born to them, the eldest died in infancy. Her husband and seven children survive to mourn the loss of a devoted wife and mother. In 1892 the Cannon family moved to Peoria, Ill., and four years later moved to a farm five miles south west of Colo which continued to be their home until this spring when they moved to Iowa City. They have a large circle of of friends here who are deeply grieved at the untimely death of Mrs. Cannon and extend sincere sympathy to the bereaved ones. Brief funeral services were held at the home in Iowa City by Father Shannon, Friday morning. The remains were brought to Colo Friday evening and taken to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thos. McGuire. Funeral services were held in St. Mary church at 10 a. m. Saturday. Requiem High mass by Father Nichols. Interment made in St. James cemetery. Relatives and friends from a distance were Mrs. P. J. Wall of Peoria, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Pat Donahue of Niles, Kan., Miss Laura Kurtz of El Paso, Ill., Miss Sara Sutten and Mrs. Ryan of Des Moines, Misses Griffen, Cavanaugh and Nelson, Sisters Matilda and Bernidean of Marshalltown, Miss Golderman of Davenport.
