DEATHS
RICHARD BOYD
Richard Boyd, 56, of Zearing, died Sunday Feb. 24, 1985, at Veterans Hospital in Des Moines of heart failure.
Funeral services were scheduled for 2 p. m. Thursday at St. John's Episcopal Church in Ames with Rev. Ronald Whitmer officiating. Burial was to be in Linwood Park Cemetery at Boone.
A memorial fund has been established with the Heart Assn.
Mr. Boyd was born Aug. 17, 1928, at Boone to Scott and Grace Bennett Boyd. He graduated from Boone High School and Hawkeye Institute of Technology at Waterloo. He also attended Iowa State University in Ames.
He was a mail carrier at Ames and also a machinist at Bourns, Inc., and a construction superintendent.
In Zearing, he owned and operated "Pack Rat's Place" antique store.
He served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of St. John's Episcopal church, the American Legion, and was an Ames Scoutmaster.
Survivors include three sons, David of Woodward, Steve of Iowa City and John of Albany, Ore., one daughter, Karyl Boyd of Des Moines, his mother, Grace Pies of Boone, a granddaughter, two brothers and his fiancee, Kathleen Sebring.
