Story City Barber Suicided By Taking Poison

Story City, Ia., Oct. 11--Funeral rites for Martin Silkebakken, 45, Story City barber, who died at his home here Tuesday at 1:45 from poison taken with suicidal intent, will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Grace Evangelical church with Rev. G. L. Bergeman in charge. Burial will be in a rural cemetery, near Bradgate, Humboldt county.

Mr. Silkebakken, who had worked aa a barber here since 1922 had been down town shortly before noon, but returned home and took the poison and was dead when found by member of his family. The motive is not clear.

He leaves his wife and sons Shirley, Stanley and Jerry, all of Story City. He also leaves two brothers in this country, Bartinus of Dallas Center and Ole of Akron, Iowa.

County Coroner Mills was called and after looking the case over pronounced it suicide by poison and no inquest was held.
