Sept. 6, 1917-June 15, 1993

Dorothy Maroney, 75, of Ames died from complications of a liver disorder Tuesday at Mary Greeley Medical Center, Ames. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the Nicholas Chapel at Collegiate United Methodist Church with the Rev. George White officiating. Burial will be in the Story Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Ames.

Dorothy Ferguson was born Sept. 6, 1917, in Wauby, S.D., to David and Frances (Huffman) Ferguson.

She lived most of her life in Story County and had been a resident of Ames since 1967.

She worked for the Ames Pantorium, retiring in 1984. She married Thomas Maroney on Feb. 24, 1940, in Nevada.

She was a member of the Ames Women's Club and Bowling Team, and the "Solos" of Collegiate United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son, Russell Amundson of Ames; a daughter, Donna Rae Nelson of Stratford; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas, on Feb. 19, 1991; her parents; four brothers; and two sisters.
