THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, July 20, 2005.

Bernadine Barrow, 90, of Ames, died Monday, July 18, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 23, at Bethesda Lutheran Church with the Rev. Randy Gehring officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery in Boone.

Bernadine Barrow was born Jan. 8, 1915, in Scranton, to Oluf M. and Marie (Christensen) Larsen. She was a graduate of Jefferson High School, and had lived in Ames since 1945. She married Jack Barrow July 3, 1941. She was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church, where she was active in quilting, senior meals, Scandinavian coffee and the food pantry. She was proud of her Danish heritage.

She is survived by her husband, Jack of Ames; three daughters, Ann K. Bullard (Charles) of Woodlands, Texas, Jean M. Handley (James) of Indianapolis and Mary K. McFarland (Ron) of Westminster, Colo.; four grandchildren, Matt, Laura, Amy and Martha; two great-grandchildren, A.J. and Sara; and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Clifton of Boone.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Bethesda Lutheran Church.

Adams Funeral Home in Ames is in charge of arrangements.
