Funeral Services for James Rullestad

Special to the Journal:
Huxley, March 2--Funeral services for James Rullestad were held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Adams Funeral home in Ames. Rev. Peder Buland, who was in charge of the services read the 32nd Psalm for scripture reading and Miss Gladys Rullestad sang a solo, "Abide With Me." The pastor based his text on John 3:16 and at the close of the sermon Mae Ford of Ames sang "Jesus Lover of My Soul."

James (Jermund) Rullestad, son Gunder and Gunhilde Rullestad was born in Skaanevik, Norway, August 30, 1864. He came to America in 1881 and settled in New Sharon, Iowa, for a short time and later moved to Jackson, Minn. He was married to Metta Auran of Jackson an in 1898 they came to Huxley to make their home where Mrs. Rullestad passed away about ten years ago. There were no children. Mr. Rullestad continued to live in this community until last fall when his failing health made it necessary for him to enter a sanitarium in Fort Dodge. He passed away Wednesday morning at 3:30, Feb. 22, 1939, at the age of 74 years, 5 months and 22 days.

His parents, three brothers, Ingebrit, Esten, and Jalmer, and one sister, Gunhilde, preceded him in death. He is survived by three brothers, Gunder and Lars of Huxley, Sivert of Jewell and one sister, Mrs. Julia Freeland of near Kelley.

The remains were laid to rest beside the wife in the Lincoln cemetery north of Huxley.
