Funeral Service Held For Mrs. Martha Lee

Funeral services for Martha Lee were held on Monday morning, Aug. 24, 1959 at ten o'clock from the Nazareth Lutheran church in Cambridge with the Rev. Clyde E. Brueland in charge.

Mrs. Lee passed away at her home in Cambridge on Friday afternoon, Aug. 21, having reached the age of 89 years, 9 months and 29 days.

Mrs. Alex Egeland and Mrs. D. E. Ryerson sang "The Lights of Home" and Rev. Brueland sang "Den Store Hyde Flok" accompanied by Mrs. Leo Miller at the organ.

Casket bearers were Alex Egeland, John Lewis, Ronald Lewis, Vernon Bauge, Larry Sweeney and Donald Apland.

Burial was in the Cambridge cemetery.

Mrs. Mathilda Hill and Mrs. Elsie Webb were in charge of the flowers.

Obituary

Mrs. Lee was born Oct. 22, 1869, south of Huxley, Iowa and was the eldest of ten children of Thomas and Martha Weeks. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of the Nazareth Lutheran church in Cambridge.

In 1889 she was united in marriage to Charles Fatland who passed away in May 1890.

She was united in marriage to Ole Lee, Feb. 24, 1893. They farmed south of Cambridge until 1932 when they move to Cambridge.

Mr. Lee preceded her in death in February 1939. Also preceding her in death were two sons, Clarence and Reuben; one daughter, Mary and a granddaughter Norma Lewis.

Surviving are six children, one son, Thomas of Cambridge; five daughters, Mrs. Hilda Lewis, Mrs. Mollie Apland, Mrs. Blanche Sweeney and Mrs. Cora Lewis, all of Cambridge; Mrs. Ruby Bauge of Huxley. Also a niece, Agnes Scott of Webster City, who made her home with the Lee family and 18 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Helen Storing of Slater, Mrs. Sadie Travis [should be Travase] of Huxley and Mrs. Clara Brown of Slater and a host of relatives and friends.

Memories of her goodness and loving kindness will long be cherished by those who loved her.
