Funeral Services Mrs. Rose Cook Sunday Afternoon

Funeral services for Mrs. Rose Cook, 87, pioneer woman who died at her home on K avenue Thursday evening at 7:00 o'clock, will be held at the Methodist church here Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock followed by burial in the Nevada cemetery^. The service will be in charge of her pastor, Dr. C. D. Loose of that church.

Rosanna Elwood Cook was born in Randolph county, Indiana, December 2, 1848 and passed from this life April 9, 1936 at the age of 87 years, 4 month and 7 days.

She came to Story county, Iowa in the year 1858 and settled in New Albany township, where she grew to young womanhood.

She was married to Michael Henry Cook, September 21, 1857 and to this union was born eight children, three of whom preceded her in death, Louie Belle, 10 years old; James Riley, 7 months; and William Henry of Washington, D. C. 58 years old.

Those living to mourn her death are Mary E. Smith of Ames; Frank of Zearing; Emma J. Handsaker, and Orville of Nevada and Vernie Shaffer of Colo. There are twenty-five grand children, and twenty eight great great grand children besides her many friends.

In the year 1877 they moved from New Albany township to a farm in Richland township where they lived and reared their family. In the year 1908 thy moved to Nevada on K avenue which has since been the home. In 1910 the husband and father passed away.

When Rosanna was 16 years old she was converted an joined the Methodist church, where she remained a faithful member. She loved her family and was a faithful worker wherever she thought her duty lay.
