Funeral Services Held Tuesday for Mrs. Walter L. Skinner

Collins, Oct. 14--Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Collins Church of Christ for Mrs. Walter L. Skinner, who died Sunday at 11 p.m. at her home in Iowa Center

Mrs. Skinner was the widow of the late Walter L. Skinner, former hardware dealer in Collins, where the family lived for a number of years prior to moving to Iowa Center.

Services were in charge of the Rev. Harry Esch, pastor of the local church assisted by the Rev. John Sparks of Maxwell.

Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Mary Tomlinson, Mabel Mullihan, R. A. Long and T. E. Huntrods, with Mrs. Hugh Fertig as pianist.

Flowers were in charge of Mrs. Kathleen Gaby and Mrs. Florence Mohr.

The pallbearers were Wayne Howell, Milton Mohr, Clarence Gadby, Robert Hill, Howard Smith and Howard Skinner.

Interment was in Ashton cemetery.

Zaresh E. Harris, daughter of James and Sarah Harris, was born Feb. 2, 1871, in Madison, and passed away at the home place north of Maxwell, Oct. 5, 1947, at the age of 76 years, eight month and three days.

She was united in marriage to Walter L. Skinner, Aug. 30, 1893, at Lorimer, Ia. Her husband preceded her in death almost ten years ago. To this union four daughters were born, one of whom died in infancy.

In her girlhood she joined the Evangelical church and later transferred her membership to the Church of Christ at Collins.

She leaves to mourn her loss her three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Downs of Huxley, Mrs. Zoa Burns of Champaign, Ill., Zella who was home with her mother; two grandchildren, one brother, Joe Harris of Winterset, Ia., a number of nieces and nephews.

Her passing is also mourned by a host of friends. She was a kind and helpful companion, a loving mother and good neighbor.
