Rites Held For Mrs. Mary Dobbe
HUXLEY -- Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Dobbe were held on Thursday with a prayer service at the Riis Funeral Home in Slater at 1:30 p.m. and at Palestine Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. Rev. Harry Stoutland was in charge, using II Timothy, chapter 4, verse 7 and 8 as his text.
Mrs. Edward Larson sang "It Is Well With My Soul" and Rev. Stoutland sang "Sun of My Soul," accompanied by De Wayne Wee at the organ.
Gifts of money to the missions in memory of Mrs. Dobbe were given by relatives and friends. The floral offerings were cared for by Mrs. Olaf Hansen, Mrs. Arnold Ness and Elizabeth Maland. Casket bearers were Joe Dobbe of Slater, Elmer, Milton and Henry Dobbe of Huxley, Nels Richardson of Kelley and Oliver Richardson of Kelley.
Burial was in Palestine Cemetery.
OBITUARY
Mrs. Mary Dobbe was born October 23, 1885 in Story county, Iowa. Her parents were Carrie and Lewis Monson.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, and was a member of the Palestine Lutheran Church for a number of years.
She was united in marriage to John Dobbe in 1919 wo preceded her in death in 1945. Others who preceded her in death were her father, mother, one brother, two sisters, stepmother and stepdaughter. Mrs. Dobbe passed away on January 26, 1954 at 7 a.m. at the State University hospital at Iowa City, Iowa.
She leaves to cherish her memory, three sisters, Mrs. Celia Haig of Des Moines, Bertha Munson of Huxley, Mrs. Lewis Erickson of Kelley, four stepsons Joe Dobbe of Slater, Henry, Elmer and Milton Dobbe of Huxley. Also 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 12 nieces and three nephews.
