Susie Hix Eddy, 79, Born In Story County, Dies In State Center

Mrs. Susie Eddy, 79, of State Center, died Saturday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Paul Benner near State Center, where she had made her hoe for the past ten years. She had been in failing health for the past three months.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Presbyterian church in State Center with the Rev. C. D. Wilkening, pastor and the Rev. E. W. Shuey of Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in the Johnson Grove cemetery. Friends may call at the Wensel Funeral Home in State Center until 3:00 p.m. Tuesday after which the body will rest at the Paul Benner home until time for the funeral.

The deceased was born July 7, 1875 in Story County, a daughter of pioneer residents. Seymour and Louisa Mumford Hix. She grew up in Nevada and attended the Nevada schools.

December 31, 1896 she was married to Frank S. Eddy who preceded her in death in 1934. They had lived on farms near Colo, Nevada, Rhodes and Ames.

November 1938 she was united in marriage to Dwight W. Eddy who died in 1945.

Mrs. Eddy was a member of the State Center Presbyterian church, of the Rhodes Order of the Eastern Star and Woman's Club.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Amiee Miller of Hampton and Mrs. Frances Benner of State Center, and one son, Harry Eddy of Rhodes. She also leaves three stepsons, Herbert of Zearing, Russell and Leroy of Alexandria, Va.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Sarah Hix Saunders of Manchester, N. H., 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Six brothers and one sister, preceded her in death.
