KENNETH HANDELAND

Kenneth Jerome Handeland, 67, of rural Nevada, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 1981 at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames.

He was born July 23, 1914 on the family farm near Ellsworth, the son of Elmer and Bertha Knudson Handeland. He was a graduate of Radcliffe High School.

On Sept. 1, 1937 he married Elsie Townswick, at Ft. Dodge. He farmed in the Jewell, Roland and Nevada communities until retiring in 1978. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, McCallsburg.

Mr. Handeland is survived by his wife, Elsie; a brother, Lester Handeland of Estherville; two sisters, Arlie Swenson of Radcliffe and Norma Gandrup of Nevada; and his mother, Bertha Handeland, Story City, and mother-in-law, Nora Townswick, Story City.

He was preceded in death by his father, two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Bethany Lutheran Church, McCallsburg, with Rev. Oliver Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Story City Cemetery.
