Funeral Rites for Mrs. Christina Kiefer Held Sunday

Maxwell, March 26 -- Funeral rites were held for Mrs. Christina Kiefer, 86, mother of Mrs. Albert Link of southeast of Maxwell, on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Peoria Methodist church with Rev. Kelly of Des Moines officiating. Burial was in the Peoria cemetery. Pall bearers were her grandsons, Walter, Ivan, Robert, Raymond and Albert Link Jr. and Eldon Pearson. The pastor read in part--

Christina Knobel, daughter of John and Katharine Knobel passed away Friday morning, March 21, 1947, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Albert Link, Sr., at the age of 86 years, one month and six days. She was born in Basle, Switzerland, February 15, 1861.

She leaves to mourn her parting her daughter with whom she lived and eleven grand children, Christina Bailey of Ames; Henry of Coos Bay, Oregon; Albert Jr. of Collins; Gladys Pearson, Walter, Iva, Lucille, Ralph, Robert, Raymond and Betty Link, all of Maxwell; ten great-grandchildren. Her husband, Henry Kiefer, preceded her in death, June 27, 1936. On April 20, 1890 she came to the United States from Switzerland with her husband and daughter, locating in Des Moines where she had been a resident until the last ten years she had made her home with her daughter and family where she had been tenderly cared for. She had ben in her usual health but passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday morning. She will be greatly missed by her family whom she loved and by all those who knew her. She was a good christian mother.
