B. Birkeland, 72, Roland Resident Dies at Co. Farm

Roland, March 14 -- Funeral services are planned for next Monday afternoon for Bernhard Birkeland, 72-year-old Roland resident who died at 10:30 o'clock Wednesday night at the county farm. Mr. Birkeland had been in failing health since Christmas and death was attributed to old age and complications.

Last rites Monday will begin with a prayer service at the Erickson funeral home at 1:30 o'clock followed by services at the Bergen Lutheran church at 2 o'clock the Rev. Allen Nelson in charge. Burial will be in Roland cemetery.

Mr. Birkeland was born Jan. 7, 1875, southeast of Roland on the Birkeland homestead, the son of the later Holger and Borghild Birkeland.

He is survived by one brother, Henry, Roland, and one sister Mrs. H. O. Bakken, LuVerne, Minn. His parents, two sisters an one brother preceded him in death.
