Mrs. Myrtle Melick Buried in Liscomb Cemetery Friday
Funeral services for Mrs. Myrtle Belle Melick, 83, former Liscomb woman, who passed away early Wednesday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ethel Hobbs, 1938 North Fourth street, Nevada, were held Friday afternoon at the Liscomb Christian church.
Mrs. Melick had made her home with her daughter for the past 14 years. Death was due to cancer from which she had been a sufferer for some time.
Mrs. Melick was born in Valparaiso, Ind. Her parents had gone to California during the Gold Rush, coming back with ox team, settling in a log cabin in the Liscomb neighborhood where later a beautiful home was built.
Surviving Mrs. Melick is the only daughter, Mrs. Ethel Hobbs, the two grandsons, Walter Hobbs, of Hartford, Conn., and F. L. Hobbs, Jr. who is in the U. S. Navy stationed in California and the granddaughter, Sherrie Lu Hobbs.
