DEATHS--

ALVIS LeROY SHEARER

Alvis LeRoy Shearer, 89, of 618 Warner St., Colo, Ia., died Sunday, June 2, 1985, at his home.

He was born at Collins, Ia., Aug. 5, 1895, to Michael and Etta (McCleese) Shearer.

He was married to Blanche Cheville March 1, 1920, at Collins. She died in 1975.

Survivors include a daughter, Alice (Mrs. Dale) Thornton of Colo, a grandson, Alfred Oxley of Nevada, several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mr. Shearer served in the US Army in World War I as a cook. He worked for the state in maintenance at Colo.

He was a member of American Legion Post 139.

Funeral services will be at Chet Ryan Mortuary, 5th and G Ave. in Nevada, Wednesday, June 5, at 1:30 p.m. with Charles Lehman and Rev. James R. Tener officiating. Burial will be in Collins Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Chet Ryan Mortuary, 5th and G, Tuesday evening.
