OBITUARY

MRS. H. C. CRAVER

Death came suddenly to Mrs. H. C. Craver at 845 Friday morning, July 2, while in the reception room of the Bishop under taking parlor conversing with friends and awaiting the opening of the Peoples' Savings bank, which is located next door.

While Mrs. Craver had been in delicate health for some months she had been able to attend to her household duties and had walked down town that morning from her home on Vine street with her daughter, Mrs. Fred H. Golly, to attend to some business at the bank. Arriving before the doors of that institution had opened Mrs. Craver and her daughter stepped into the under taking establishment to wait a few moments. While seated talking to some friends she was stricken with heart trouble and before Dr. Bowers who had offices on the second floor of the same building reached her death had released her from earthly cares.

Mrs. Craver's maiden name was Emeline Norton an she was born at New Portland, Maine, July 10, 1849. She died at Nevada, Iowa, July 2, 1920 at the age of 70 years, 11 months and 22 days.

When an infant she was brought by her parent to Earlville, Ill. where she was raised to womanhood and where she was united in marriage to Henry C. Craver on November 18, 1866. To this union six children were born all of whom are left to mourn the death of their parents.

It was just one year and two days preceding her death that her husband passed away as a result of injuries received in a fall from a cherry tree at the family home on Vine and Lincoln avenue.

The children are Freeman N. Craver of El Paso, Texas, Mrs. Frank Smith of Elmore, Minn., Mrs. Fred H. Golly of Zearing, Mrs. Ed Roberts of Warrensburg, Mo., Mrs. N. C. Fry of Nevada and Mrs. Myra Smith of Omaha, Neb. The daughters were all present at the funeral, but the son was unable to get here.

It was in 1891 that Mr. and Mrs. Craver with their children moved from Illinois to Story county and settled on a farm just east of Zearing in Lincoln township. There they lived for nine years, at which time the moved to Nevada and this had been the family home since.

Mrs. Craver had been an active member in the circles of the Christian church for many years as had her husband, and they were among the organizers of the church in this city. It was within the circles of that church that they were best known in Nevada and she was held in the highest of esteem by all with whom she had come in contact. Those who knew her best and loved her most hold a sacred memory of the life that had been lived so well for both herself, her family and her friends.

The children will receive the most profound sympathy of a wide circle of friends in Story county an other places where the mother was loved and admired.

Funeral services Sunday afternoon at two o'clock from the church of Christ were conducted by the pastor, T. S. Knoles, and burial was in Nevada's beautiful city of the dead by the side of the husband.
