FORMER COLLINS WOMAN IS DEAD

MRS. GERTUDE CALKINS PASSED AWAY AFTER MONTH'S ILLNESS

Collins, March 16--Mrs. Gertrude Calkins, 42, former Collins woman died in a hospital at Webster City Friday and the funeral services were held at the Foster Funeral home in that city Sunday. Rev. F. C. Nicholson, pastor of the Nazarene church, officiated and burial was made in Graceland cemetery.

The deceased was the wife of Samuel Calkins, and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Silas Brown of the Collins neighborhood.

Mrs. Calkins is survived by her husband and eight children, James, Arthur, Earl, Neva, Iona, Lyle, Thelma and Gayle, all at home. Gayle is only a month old. There are also three brothers and two sisters, Lloyd Brown of Toledo, Lee Brown of Collins, Walter Brown of Collins, Mrs. Iva Bates of Colo and Mrs. Grace Wilford of Ruthven.

Mrs. Calkins was born Sept. 25, 1889, in Collins. She was married in 1907 at Anamosa, and the family moved to Webster City 17 years ago. She was a member of the Nazarene church.

The brother Walter Brown and his daughter Mildred and the sister Mrs. Bates and her husband, were up and attended the funeral services.
