FUNERAL SERVICE FOR AGED WOMAN

MRS. LENA HANSON INTERRED IN IOWA CENTER CEMETERY ON TUESDAY

Cambridge, Feb. 5--Funeral services for Mrs. Lena Hanson, 89, who died at the home of her grand daughter, Mrs. Glendora Thompson here Sunday, were held at the Methodist church in Maxwell Tuesday afternoon, after which interment was in the cemetery at Iowa Center, by the side of a daughter.

Rev. Eben A. Thomas of the Maxwell Methodist Episcopal church of which she had been a member for over twenty-one years, has charge of the funeral and interment services, while the brief service at the home in Cambridge was in charge of Rev. G. L. Hufstader, pastor of the Cambridge Methodist church.

Lena Johnson was born in Hjmelland, Stavanger, Norway, Sept. 17, 1841 and departed this life at the home of Mrs. Glendora Thompson, in Cambridge, February 1, 1931, aged 89 years, 4 months, and 15 days.

She was married to Tom Thompson while still living in Norway and one son, John O. Thompson was born. Her husband dying, she with her young son, was assisted by friends in coming to America, making the voyage by sail-ship.

Locating in Leland, Illinois, she married Tom Hanson and established a home there. To this union two daughters were born on of which died in infancy and the other preceded her mother in death.

From Illinois she came to Iowa and located near Maxwell, where she lived about fifty-five years. She endured all the hardships of the pioneers.

Her health failed about four years ago and since that time he has made her home at Cambridge with Mrs. Glendora Thompson, the widow of her grand-son.
