Opal Fern King, 95 of Nevada died on Tuesday, June 28 at Story County Long Term Care in Nevada. Funeral services were on Friday, July 1 at Chet Ryan Mortuary with Pastor Scott Milsom officiating. Burial followed in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Opal was born on September 19, 1909 in Boone to Carl M. and Ellen M. (Peterson) Munson. She married Frank G. (Jerry) King on October 3, 1929 in Nevada. Opal retired from Donnelley Marketing in 1974 as a senior clerk after 27 years of service. She was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church in Nevada and the Order of the Eastern Star. Opal enjoyed cooking, playing bridge, dancing, painting, and going to the Minnesota cabin in the summer.

Opal is survived by a son, Richard D. (Donna) King of Phoenix, Arizona; a daughter, JoAnn King of Palm Desert, California; 2 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.

Opal was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Jerry on October 23, 1997, 4 brothers Arnold, John, Al, Jerry Munson and a sister Ebba Douglas.

Chet Ryan Mortuary was entrusted with the arrangements.
