GEORGE V. MOWEN

MAXWELL--Funeral services for George V. Mowen were held Sunday, July 13 from the Maxwell Methodist Church with the Rev. J. E. McClellan officiating. Mr. Mowen died July 11.

Music was furnished by Don Myers and Madeline Summitt.

Casket bearers were E. L. Wood, Dale Pyle, J. E. Ward, Dorus Myers, Henry Thornwall and Harold Mohler. Interment was n the Peoria cemetery. The Cooper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Life Sketch

George Victor Mowen was born on a farm near Ft. Morris, Illinois February 25, 1866 and died in the Story County Hospital on July 11, 1959. He was the son of Emmanuel and Charlotte Mowen. When 8 years old he came to Iowa and lived south of Maxwell on a farm until 1942.

He was married to Anne Hartung October 7, 1888, who preceded him in death June 28, 1937. They raised a boy Russell Kirby who now resides in Des Moines, Iowa.

Mowen was married to Dora Leatherby, August 19, 1942. Survivors include his wife, Dora; four stepdaughters, Olive, Gladys, Irene, and Helen; also a number of nieces and nephews. He was a member of the First Methodist Church at Maxwell, Iowa.

Mowen lived all of his life, until he retired to live in Maxwell, on a farm.
