ANTHONY HALE

Monday morning at 7:40 at his home in Blairsburg occurred the death of Anthony Hale. He was in his eightieth year and passed away from decline incident to old age. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon from the Congregational church in Blairsburg.

Mr. Hale was a native of England, having been born there September 20, 1833. He and his wife came to Iowa in 1871, settling in Story county. They also lived some years in Webster City prior to moving to Blairsburg and Mr. Hale was widely known here, he having been prominent in the civic life of the community. At Blairsburg he served several terms as mayor and many excellent improvements there, including the cement walks used almost everywhere are monuments to his progressive tendencies and his spirit of town building. He is survived by his wife and three children, Howard and Mrs. Isaac Day of this county and James Hale of Story county.

Anthony Hale was a good man in every activity of life, a kind father and a neighbor who enjoyed the highest respect of all. In his passing his friends over the county mourn with his relatives.
