Funeral Services for Pete L. Hill
Special to the Journal.
Slater, Jan. 22--Funeral services for Pete L. Hill were held at the Bethlehem church, Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The services were in charge of the Rev. E. R. Rorem. Beautiful floral offerings were placed about the casket. The men's chorus sang "Abide With Me" and "Rock of Ages." Miss Ruth Halverson sang "Beautiful Garden of Prayer." The pall bearers were Swan Johnson, E. C. Rood, Dave Schroeder, H. L. Peterson, M. S. Heggen and Charley Skortman.Pete L. Hill was born Sept. 8, 1865 in Palestine township. His parents were Barney and Sarah Ness Hill. He was confirmed in the Fieldberg church, Dec. 12, 1880. He lived on the farm till 1892 when he moved to Slater and engaged in the jewelry business, from which he retired some time ago.
Saturday he suffered a paralytic stroke from which he died Tuesday morning, at the age of 66 years, 4 months and 11 days. He is survived by his sister, Mrs. A. A. Lande and one brother Henry B. Hill of Huxley and numerous relatives. Burial was made in the Bethlehem cemetery.
