Severeid Funeral Services at Renwick

Special to the Journal.
Huxley, Dec. 8--Funeral services for Mrs. Ward I. Severeid, 22, who passed away at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Packard near Britt on Saturday evening and were held at Renwick, her former home, on Tuesday, Dec. 5th.

Services were in charge of Rev. N. A. Gangser pastor of the Lutheran church at Kanawha who spoke in the English language. There were three beautiful numbers by a mixed quartet "The Old Rugged Cross," "God Be With You Till We Meet Again" and "Lead Kindly Light."

Pall bearers were Fred Berhow, Laird Harris, Charles Nelson, Tom Gibb, C. McCarthy and Martin Wheelock, all of Ames.

Services were held at the home of her parents near Britt at 11:30 and at the church at Renwick at 1:30. The church was filled to capacity, many friends and relatives coming from Ames and Huxley besides Britt and Renwick. The many and beautiful floral offerings were a tribute of the love and esteem in which the deceased was held by relatives and friends.

Frances Willard Packard-Severeid was born November 18, 1911 near Renwick, of parents Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Packard. When she was 13 years old the family moved to Ames where she attended and graduated from high school. She was employed as secretary to Mr. John Ames, Ames city manager for four years.

On July 9th, 1932 she was married at Princeton, Mo. to Ward I. Severeid of Huxley. On May 21, 1933 she was baptized, confirmed and became a member of the Lutheran church at Ames. She and her husband made Ames their home until this fall since then they have been with her parents at Britt where the little daughter, Phyllis Marie, was born on Nov. 27th. Mrs. Severeid became ill on the following Tuesday and passed away at 8:30 on Saturday evening Dec. 2 having reached the age of 22 years and 14 days. The last afternoon she lived she asked God's blessing upon her family and she sang one verse of the song "God Be With You Till We Meet Again."

She is survived by her husband Ward I. Severeid her infant daughter, Phyllis Marie, her parents, two brothers and three sisters. Her remains were laid to rest in the family lot at Elmwood cemetery a few miles from Renwick. Among those from Huxley in attendance at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Severeid and Alma, Mr. and Mrs. Milo Havens, Leland Seversike, Benjamin Hokel, Ted Bauge, Dean Inghram, Selma Fjelland, Irene Berhow and Sina Kloster, from Alleman were Mr. and Mrs. Howard Ward and Arlene Heggen, from Story City, Mrs. E. L. Severeid.

There were numerous friends from Ames. Among them were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Berhow, former Huxley people.
