Funeral Services Held for Laura Grimsley

McCALLSBURG -- Funeral services for Laura Matilda Grimsley who passed away April 21 at St. Cloud, Minn., were held Saturday, April 26, from the Lutheran church, in McCallsburg with Rev. H. N. Bakke in charge.

Mrs. O. E. Ritland of Roland sang two songs, "Beautiful Isle" and "Behold a Host Arrayed in White," accompanied at the piano by Mrs. John Helland.

There was a fine display of flowers. In charge of them were Mrs. Millard Helland and Mrs. Alfred Mannes.

The casket bearers were: Marvin Malmin, Obed Olson, Kermit Haugen, Paul Egenes, Maurice Haugen and Maynard Olson. There were a number of gifts to the Bethany church building fund and also gifts to missions.

The body was laid to rest beside that of her husband in the Warren Township cemetery.

Obituary

Laura Matilda Grimsley, daughter of of Mauritz and Karen Malmin, was born two miles west of McCallsburg, September 21, 1890, and departed from this life after a long illness at the St. Cloud hospital at St. Cloud, Minn., April 21, 1952, at the age of 61 years and seven months.

She grew to womanhood in this community and was united in marriage to Thomas Grimsley December 9, 1910. In the spring of 1911 they moved to a farm near Thompson, Iowa, and later moved to Clear Lake, Minnesota.

Since the passing of her husband she has made her home for a few years with a daughter in Chicago and later with a son in St. Cloud, Minn.

She is survived by four children: Mrs. Myrtle Long, Madrid, Leslie in New Albany, Inc., Gerald of St. Cloud, Minn., Mrs. Leone Ness, Chicago, Ill.; 11 grandchildren and one great granddaughter; also two brothers and one sister, M. K. Malmin of Shafer, Minn., G. M. Malmin and Mrs. Peter Egenes of McCallsburg.

Those who attended the funeral from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Leo Long and LuVerne of Madrist, Mrs. Art Grewell, Mrs. Margaret Knudtson, Miss Elaine Anderson from Ames, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Phillips, Mr. and Mrs. John Long of Boone, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Malmin, Larry and Helen Egenes, Helen Welder of Des Moines, Mr. Gerald Grimsley, Jerry and Gloria of St. Cloud, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. M. K. Malmin, Shafer, Minn., Mrs. Marshall Ness and children of Chicago, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Kermin Hougan, Malmin Olson of Radcliffe.

Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Skartvedt of Ellsworth, Mr. and Mrs. Olger Lenning, Story City, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Lura, Miss Inga Lura, Mrs. O. E. Ritland and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lura of Zearing.
