Mrs. Klingensmith Was Native of Story County

Mrs. Rhoda Klingensmith, 72, who died at her home at Cheney, Washington, February 2, was a native daughter of Story county, having been born at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Kelley, in Section 26, Richland township, May 21, 1861.

There she was married to Isaac Klingensmith 51 year ago Friday, February 3, and had their home in different parts of Iowa before going west.

Seven children were born to the couple and three survive the parents, they being the son Walter and daughters Edna and Beulah all of Cheney, Wash., the son having made a home for the mother. The husband had been dead for some years.

The death of Mrs. Klingensmith leaves but three of Kelleys-- a pioneer family of the Johnson Grove neighborhood. They are Mrs. Ida Fry of Nevada, Nathan Kelley of Winnebago, Minn., and Jacob Kelley of Swea City.

The parents died at their home in Nevada in August, 1898. The first to pass away was Mrs. Eveline Hefley, January 29, 1894, the next Henry Kelley, January 12, 1914, then Mrs. Clara Corbin, February 14, 1917, next the daughter Mrs. Emma Fenton, November 5, 1930 and Mrs. Fredrica Smay who died August 29, 1932.

Mrs. Klingensmith was buried at her adopted home in Washington a few days following her death.

Among the Nevada relatives to mourn her death are the sister Mrs. John Fry and family, the niece Mrs. Jennie Bobo and nephew Warren Smay and possibly others.
