Many Attended the Young Funeral

Special to the Journal.
Zearing, Jan. 16--A large crowd of sympathizing friends were in attendance at the funeral of Mrs. W. C. Young which was held a the Evangelical church in Zearing, Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in charge of Rev. I. L. Baumgartner of Cedar Rapids with the local pastor, Rev. C. A. Claypool, assisting. The music was furnished by a mixed quartette, Gilbert Womeldorf, Mrs. I. L. Baumgartner, Mrs. Harry Martin and Russell Golly accompanied by Miss Myrtle Golly at the piano. The pall bearers were Clarence Allen, Charles Kleespie, Frank Cerka, Arthur Couser, Asa Barnard and Walter Tillman and the ushers were Dr. Meriden L. Rankin, Wayne Burkhead and Troy Chance. The many beautiful floral offerings were in charge of Mrs. Will Gardiner, Mrs. Russell Golly, Mrs. Clarence Allen and Mrs. Lyle Bailey. Interment was in the Zearing cemetery.

Tessie Belle Millard, daughter of Orson and Diana Millard was born at Montour, March 6, 1874 passed away of pneumonia at the St. Thomas hospital at Marshalltown on January 10th, 1933, being 58 years, 10 months and 4 days.

At the early age of 8 year she accepted Christ as her saviour united with the Methodist church at Montour. From that time on she took an active part in the work of the Epworth League and young people being elected church pianist at age of 12 years.

After finishing her schooling at Montour she spent two years in Los Angeles, Calif., returning to take charge of a millinery department in her uncle's store.

On September 12, 1900 she was united in marriage to W. C. Young. After their marriage MR. and Mrs. Young mad their home in Montour until 1903 at that time they moved to Zearing where they have since made their home. This union was blessed with one daughter, Ada Anetta, who with her father remains to mourn the passing of loving wife and mother.

After locating in Zearing Mrs. Young transferred her membership to the Bethel Evangelical church where she actively continued her service for Christ. For 28 years she faithfully served the church as pianist in a very unassuming manner. It is from this position she will be most greatly missed as she allowed no amount of personal sacrifice to keep her from filling her place at all regular an special services. In addition to this she had through the years performed many other duties in the church and Sunday School teacher, helping to organize and promote the work of the orchestra.

For twenty-one years Mrs. Young was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in which organization she held offices for sixteen years, being pianist also president of the O. E. S. Improvement Circle at the time of her death.

In addition to the husband and daughter at home she leaves two brothers Frank B. Millard of Toledo, and Harrison B. Millard of Marshalltown; two sisters, Mrs. Nettie Adair, Tama and Mrs. Lillian Mead, Cedar Rapids.

Six nieces and six nephews also numerous other relatives and friends. Together they mourn the passing of one who was a loving wife and mother, a dear sister, a kind and helpful neighbor and faithful friend.

Adair, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Hill, Mrs. Paul Maher, Mrs. Leta Huffard of Tama; Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Mead, Mr. and Mrs. Basil Waddington, Mrs. E. J. Wykle, Mrs. I. L. Baumgartner and daughter Miriam of Cedar Rapids; Mr. Orin Millard of Davenport; Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Millard, son Keith and daughter, Janet, and Miss Mary Lois Barnum, Mrs. Rusha Dawson of Marshalltown; Mr. and Mrs. N. B. Adair, Mrs. C. H. Harmon, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Smith of Des Moines; Mrs. Jessie Smith, Fred Schauper and Miss Bertha Schultze of Ames; Mr. George Coffin, Charles Coffin of Le Grande; Dr. Frank G. Coffin of Columbus, Ohio; Mr. and Mrs. J. H. White of Waterloo; Mrs. Henry Hundermark of Whitten, Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Millard.
