ZEARING VETERAN ANSWERED TAPS

WM. ALBRIGHT DIED AFTR A LINGERING ILLNESS EARLY TODAY

Special to the Journal.
Zearing, Nov. 30--The death of William M. Albright, 90, Civil war veteran, at his home at Zearing at 1 A. M. today, marked the passing of the second surviving veteran in the county within 24 hours, his old comrade Andrew Nelson having answered to taps at Cambridge Friday.

Funeral services for Mr. Albright, longtime and honored resident of the community, will be held at the Zearing Evangelical church Monday afternoon at 2:00, with his former pastor, Rev. F. R. Blakeley, now of Manley, in charge. Interment will be in the Zearing cemetery.

Mr. Albright was born at Hanover, Pennsylvania, October 11, 1845, and came to Iowa with his parents when a child of three years. The Albrights settled at North Liberty and the family home was for many years in Iowa county. He was a lad of 18 years when he enlisted in the Union army and served throughout the war. Returning to Iowa after his discharge, he resumed his residence in Iowa county and there he was married on September 2, 1869, to Miss Ellen Koser.

They continued their home in that county until 1900, when they came to Story county and located on a farm north of Zearing. Twenty-seven years ago they retired from active farm life and moved into Zearing and here the wife died in May, 1926.

Three children survive the parents, they being Ulysses Albright of Litchfield, Minn., Mrs. H. H. Couser of Litchfield and Mrs. Fay Koeppel of Zearing. There are also five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren surviving. One daughter and two sons have preceded them in death.
