Rasmusen Funeral Held at Roland

Special to the Journal.
Roland, Nov. 16--The funeral of Andrew Rasmussen, well known Roland resident, who was found dead at his home last Friday morning, was held at Bergen Lutheran church Monday afternoon. A prayer service at the home was held at the Rasmussen home preceding the church services and was assisted by Rev. O. Amdalsrud.

Special music consisted of duets by Misses Alice Thompson and Ruth Peterson. The pallbearers were Jacob Erickson, T. I. Sampson, P. M. Martens, M. O. Ferkin, Christ Halverson and Paul F. Pederson. Interment was made in the Roland cemetery.

Mr. Rasmussen was born Dec. 18, 1866 on the Rasmussen homestead, northeast of Roland. He is a son of the lat Mr. and Mrs. Ole Rasmussen (Tysdale) pioneer residents of the community. He moved to Roland with his parents in 1900 and has lived here since that time. He is survived by one sister Mrs. J. R. Grindem of this place, and five brothers, B. M. Rasmussen of Story City, Henry Rasmussen of Minnesota, Rasmus, John and Severt Rasmussen of this place. Two sisters have preceded him in death, Mrs. Malinda Michaelson of Rushville, Neb., who passed away eight years ago, and Mrs. Mattie Henderson of Story City who died last year.

Those from a distance in attendance at the funeral were Mr. and Nels Quelland, Mr. and Mrs. Otis Rasmussen, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Rasmussen and Mr. and Mrs. Amos Rasmussen of Williams, Dr. and Mrs. R. R. Gaard of Radcliffe, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Gaard, Mrs. Ole K. Twedt, Miss Belle Tvedt, Clarence, John and Otis Tvedt of Garden City, Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Ose of McCallsburg, Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Hoversten of Ames, Mr. and Mrs. James Logan of Marshalltown, Ed Fenn of Colfax, Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Rasmussen, Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Henderson, Mr. and Mrs. I. J. Grindem, Mrs. H. E. Myrah and Rexford Tysdale all of Story City.
