THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Story County, Iowa, December 3, 1925, Page 1, Column 5. “ A. M. MCHONE – Ace Melvin McHone was born near Iowa Center, Iowa, March 5, 1859. He died Saturday afternoon, November 21, aged sixty-six year, eight months and sixteen days. He has lived all his life in this section of the state. About twenty-four years ago he established his residence in Cambridge. He was married to Ida McPherson March 5, 1888. Four children were born to them, Roy McHone, Mrs. N. N. Burton, Mrs. George Schuster and Forest McHone. Mrs. McHone fell asleep September 7, 1906. The daughter, Mrs. N. N. Burton, answered the final summons July 1 of the present year. The others have ministered to him during his continued illness. August 9, 1911, Mr. McHone and Leona Comer were united in marriage. Mrs. McHone and the two sons, Melvin and James, share in the sorrow brought by death. Mr. McHone has been in poor health for three years. Some two years ago he was operated on. For the past four months he has been confined to his bed. He was an intense sufferer, but found great comfort in the love and care of his family and relatives, the fellowship of neighbors and friends and the ministry of hip, prayer and the Word. Besides the immediate family others who mourn his death are an aged mother, Mrs. James McHone, four sisters, Mrs. Josephine Russel, Indianapolis, Ind.: Mrs. A. M . Pence and Mrs. Mose Watkins, Des Moines; four brothers, Will McHone, Des Moines, Ted McHone, Frank McHone, Windom, Minn.; Floyd McHone, Garretson, S. D.; George McHone, and eleven grandchildren. After the death of his daughter, Mrs. N. N. Burton, Mr. McHone was cared for at the home of his son, Roy. Recently he was brought to the Cambridge home of his son, Forest, who now resides in Ames. Mrs. George Schuster, Washington, D. C., who came at the time of her sister’s death, has remained here ever since and given him her constant care and devotion. Funeral services were held in the United Brethren church Tuesday morning, November 24, at eleven o’clock., conducted by Rev. Peter Jacobs, assisted by Rev. D. F. Myers. Several favorite hymns were sung by the quartet. The pall bearers were Will McHone, George McHone, Ted McHone, Gus McHone, C. E. Hanks and A. M. Pence. Burial was in the cemetery at Iowa Center.”
