Funeral Services for Miss Blanche Lande

Slater, Oct 5--Funeral services for Miss Blanche Lande were held Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the home and at two o'clock at the Bethlehem church.

The services were in charge of Rev. E. R. Rorem, assisted by Rev. Peter Buland of Story City.

Reverend Rorem read the twenty-third Psalm as the scripture reading, and for his text took the 11th chapter of St. John. Rev. Buland took part of the twenty-third Psalm as his text.

The floral offerings were unusually beautiful and numerous. They were arranged by Mrs. Stanley Lundy and Mrs. Carroll Twedt.

Misses June and Dorothy Weeks sang "My Faith Looks Up To Thee."

Gifts of money for the church missions in memory of the deceased were given by the immediate family, Dorcas Circle, Mrs. W. P. Viland and Carrie, Art Iverson, Albert C. Lande, group of friends at Milroy, Minn., cousins, other relatives and a large group of neighbors and friends.

Burial was made in the Bethlehem cemetery.

Miss Blanche Marie Lande was born near Kelley, June 21, 1913 and died at the Iowa Lutheran hospital, Des Moines, Oct. 1, 1940, at the age of 27 years, 3 months and 10 days. Her parents were Albert Lande and Bertha Sevold Lande.

She was baptised in the Bethany church at Kelley. Whtn she was two years old the family moved to Slater where they have since resided. She received religious instruction from Reverend Buland and was confirmed by Reverend Rorem.

Her father died about five years ago.

She graduated from the Slater high school in 1931 and attended Waldorf college at Forest City for one year. She was a member of Dorcas Circle and always took an active part in the church and social affairs of the community. She will be missed by a host of friends.

Although she was ill for two years, she was always cheerful and patient.

She is survived by her mother Mrs. Bertha Lande, a sister, Carrie Lande of Slater, two brothers, Leslie of Kelley, and Amos B., of Moscow, Idaho, her fiance, Jack Small, and a large number of relatives and friends.

The pallbearers were Arnold Lande of Kelley, Elvin Soderstrum of Sheldahl, Kermit Granseth, Stanley Lundy, Robert Nervig and Jonas Christianson of Slater.

Miss Margaret Fritz sang a solo,
"Sometime We'll Understand." The Riis quartette composed of Homer Lewis, Marshal Clark, Arnold Engelman and Weir Birkestrand, Jr., sang "Have Thine Own Way Lord."
