Lande Funeral Services on Tuesday
Special to the Journal.
Slater, Jan. 1--Funeral services for Albert Lande, 83, were held Tuesday afternoon, 1:30 o'clock at the home and 2:00 o'clock at the Bethlehem church. Services were in charge of Rev. E. Rorem assisted by Rev. J. Meling of St. Paul, Minn. Misses Orpha Granseth and Marie Folgero had charge of the many beautiful flowers. Home and Arline Lewis sang "Jesus Lover of My Soul," Mrs. M. S. Heggen and Mrs. A. L. Peterson sang "Den Store Hvide Flok." The pall bearers were Henry Ersland, Charley Ryen, Henry Sampson, A. A. Chader, John Richardson and Rev. John Meling. Burial was made in the Bethlehem cemetery.Albert Lande was born at Lande, Halseen, Norway, April 18, 1852, and died at his home in Slater, December 28, 1935, at the age of 83 years, 8 months and 10 days. He had been gradually failing in health for the past year and death was due to complications incident to old age.
He came to America in 1866 and after two years in Polk county, had spent the remainder of his life in this Story county community.
He was first married to Carrie Stemlen [should be Skimland] in June of 1876, but she passed away in 1896. Ten years later, or in March 1906, he was married to Bertha Sevold, who survives him.
He also leaves his sons Amos E. Lande of Moscow, Idaho, and Leslie Lande of Slater and daughters Carrie Lande of Milroy, Minn., and Blanche Lande of Slater. One son Aamod and a daughter Bertha are deceased.
He also leaves one brother A. A. Lande of Slater, and a grandson Herman Lande of Moscow, Idaho.
