C. Dennis Ochanpaugh, 74, of Ames, died Tuesday, June 21, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Services are pending with Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.

THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, June 23, 2005.

C. Dennis Ochanpaugh, 73, of Ames, died Tuesday, June 21, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames following a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 25, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames with the Rev. Terry Rassmussen and the Rev. Lynn Elrod co-officiating. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

C. Dennis Ochanpaugh was born March 12, 1932, in Stratford to Stanley and Myrtle (Johnson) Ochanpaugh. He graduated from Woodburn High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952-54. He was owner and president of Corn Belt Aluminum Inc. in Des Moines. He retired from Corn Belt in 1994 after 40 years of service. He then worked for six years at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames. He enjoyed his family, friends, home, traveling, golfing and fishing. He married Dorothy Shearer in 1981. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge and Glen Echo Christian Church in Des Moines.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Ames; their children, John (Patti), Mike, Mark (Carla), Jay (Caralee) Ochanpaugh, Bonnie (Brad) Juergens, Jodie (Bud) Nidey, Jan Tegro, Jeff (Shufan) Shearer; 18 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, George; one sister, Marge; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A greeting of family and friends will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions will be directed to Bliss Cancer Center in Ames.

Stevens Memorial Chapel assisted the family with arrangements.
