Funeral Services for Ed Reinertson

Special to the Journal.
Slater, May 18--Funeral services for Ed Reinertson were held Wednesday afternoon, 1:30 o'clock at the A. J. Reinertson home and 2 o'clock at the Bethlehem church. The services were in charge of Rev. E. R. Rorem. Mrs. C. A. Larson and Mrs. Lester Nelson arranged the many beautiful floral offerings. The Ladies' Aid and Woman's Auxiliary presented sums of money in his memory to the missions. Six grandsons served as pallbearers: Ernest, Carroll and Ervin Houge, Herbert, Archie and Kenneth Reinertson. The Treble Clef chorus sang "My Faith Looks Up to Thee," "Lead Kindly Light" was sung by Miss Margaret Fritz. A duet, "The Lord is My Shepherd" was sung by Mrs. M. S. Heggen and Mrs. A. L. Peterson. Burial was made in the Bethlehem cemetery.

Ed Reinertson was born in Stavanger, Norway, September 13, 1854, and died May 12, 1935 at the age of 80 years, 7 months, and 29 days. He came to America with his parents in 1874 and settled on a farm near Cambridge. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. His marriage to Miss Jennie Wilson took place July 5, 1882. They made their home on a farm near Slater.

Fourteen children were born to this union, eleven of which are living. In 1918 they left the farm and established their home in Slater. Mr. Reinertson was a member of the Bethlehem church and always took a great deal of interest in church affairs. He was a devoted father and a friend to everyone. His wife and three of the children preceded him in death. The eleven children who mourn his loss are: Mrs. E. Clark Hopkins of Altadena, California; Fred Reinertson of Oakland, California; Mrs. Henry Sandness of Fargo, N. D.; Oscar Reinerton of Des Moines; Mrs. Dewey Fausch of near Sheldahl; Randall, A. B. and Louie Reinerton and Mrs. Art Fausch of near Kelley; A. J. Reinertson and Mrs. Ida Hauge of Slater. He also leaves a brother, Anton Reinertson of Kelley, a half-sister, Mrs. Christine Meisure, two half-brothers, Nels and Carl of Canby, Minn., 35 grand children and two great grand children. All the children and their families were present at the services with the exception of those living in California.

Among those from out of town in attendance at the services were: Dr. Ella Reinertson of Prairie City; Mr. and Mrs. Vere Carr of Oelwein; Mrs. Carrie Reinertson and son, Orville, and Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Reinertson of Huxley, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Amlund of Story City; Mrs. Andrew Sheldahl, Mrs. A. Porter, Mrs. Arthur Mason of Cambridge; Miss Mildred Reinertson of Des Moines.
