THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, September 27 (crossed out and August 30 written in), 1956, page 1, column 6. “MILDRED GRACE WESTCOTT – Mildred Grace Bell, eldest daughter of Schuyler and Elizabeth Bell, was born March 5th, 1888, in Polk County near Peoria City, Iowa. She passed away August 21, 1956 in a Des Moines hospital of a heart ailment at the age of 65 years, 5 months and nineteen days. On June 5th 1905 she was united in marriage to Mr. J. E. Westcott at Nevada, Iowa. They were privileged to celebrate their Golden Wedding on June 5th 1955. To this union two daughters were born, Iona: Mrs. Richard Partridge, of Maxwell and Magdaline: Mrs. George Raschert, of Yuma Arizona. She grew to womanhood around Peoria and Maxwell and attended school in these communities and attended the Peoria Church as a girl and later attended the Maxwell Methodist Church. Here she was a member of the quartet from that church that sang for innumerable funerals many years ago. Maxwell and Des Moines have been her home during her married years except for one year and a half spent in Yuma, Arizona. Surviving are her husband Jay, daughters, Iona and Magdalene, two grandchildren, Ward Partridge and Thelma Nichols, and six Great Grandchildren. Two sisters, Mrs. Lulu Parr of Des Moines and Mrs. Mary Jacobson of Ames, numerous relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death in death** by her parents, one sister Fannie Lund, and two brothers, Burl and Floyd Bell. Funeral services were held Monday August 27, 1956 from the Cooper Funeral Home at 2:00 P. M. with Rev. George Yetter of the Maxwell Methodist Church officiating. Irwin Parr, nephew of Mrs. Westcott, sang two numbers, “In the Garden” and “No Night There” accompanied by Madeline Summitt at the organ. Casket bearers were Marion Patterson, E. L. Glasgow, Victor Partridge and Dan Pring. Mrs. E. L. Glasgow and Mrs. Victor Partridge cared for the flowers. Interment was in the Peoria Cemetery.” “CARD OF THANKS – We wish to express our deep appreciation to all the friends, neighbors and relatives for their kind expressions of sympathy, cards and flowers during the illness and death of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Jay E. Westcott, Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Partridge, Mr. and Mrs. George Raschert, Mr. and Mrs. Ward H.
