THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, January 28, 1971, page 1, column 3. “MRS. MARY D. WENGERT – Mrs. Mary Dorothea Wengert, 82, died Wednesday morning, Jan. 20th, at the Bryant Nursing Home in State Center. Services were held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Erwin Wiedbush officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Wengert was born Sept. 2, 1888, at Zearing, a daughter of John and Elizabeth Kuhlman Schuler. She attend St. John’s Lutheran Parochial School. She was married Nov. 17, 1910, to Clarence Wengert and the couple farmed in the State Center area all of their lives. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid Society. Survivors include three sons, Vyron and Randall, both of State Center and Lamont of Marshalltown; three daughters, Dorothy Robertson of Maxwell, and Rita Bowers and Maxine Egger, both of Marshalltown; a brother, Alvin Schuler of Nevada; 19 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son in infancy, a granddaughter, three sisters and six brothers.”
