Mrs. Simmonson* Died at Old Peoples Home

Slater, Aug. 23--Funeral services for Miss Christina Simonson who died at the Lutheran home for the aged at Madrid, Saturday, were held at the Bethlehem church Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The services were in charge of Rev. Edward Rorem who was assisted by Rev. Edward Duea of Dows. Miss Mary Nelson and Mrs. H. T. Nervig had charge of the flowers. Miss Margaret Fritz sang "I'm a Pilgrim;" a duet "Some Day the Silver Cord will Break" was sung by C. J. Cleven and daughter, Miss Karin of Madrid, Mrs. M. S. Heggen and Mrs. A. L. Peterson sang "The Old Rugged Cross." The pall bearers were Ole Frovick, Oscar Fritz, Martin Helland, Martin Romsa, Morton Nerness, and Nels Ihle.

Christina Simonson was born Feb. 3, 1872 in Palestine township and died at Madrid, Aug. 18, 1934 at the age of 62 years, 6 months and 16 days. She grew to womanhood on a farm near Slater, then went to Des Moines where she worked for a number of years till her health failed two years ago and entered the Home at Madrid. She was quiet and reserved and had a desire to serve God and fellowman. Her parents were Tores and Elizabeth Simonson and preceded her in death a number of years ago. She is survived by two brothers T. T. Simonson and John Simonson of Slater and Mrs. Leva Lande of Huxley.
