FUNERAL HELD FRIDAY

Funeral services for Miss Ruth Sandven were held Friday afternoon at the Sandven home and at Salem Lutheran church. Rev. Olaf Holen was in charge and was assisted by Rev. M. O. Sumstad, pastor of Bergen Lutheran church. Interment was made in the Roland cemetery. The pall bearers were A. E. Humphrey, O.S. Boyd, Jos. O. Johnson, Dr. H.J. Skarshaug, M. B. Giere and S. H. Frederickson. A quartet composed of Mr. and Mrs. O. S. Boyd, Mrs. Cyrus Thompson and Jos. O. Johnson sang at the church, and Robert Boyd sang solos at the residence and at the church.

Ruth Helen Sandven was born August 26, 1904, at Roland, where she lived all her life. She was baptized and confirmed by her father, the late Rev. J. N. Sandven, who was pastor of Salem Lutheran church at that time. She was graduated from the Roland high school in 1921 and later attended a business school in Mason City for a short time.

She became ill in the fall of 1924 and had been confined to her bed for the last seven years. She passed away at eight o'clock Tuesday morning, August 21, 1934, lacking five days of being 30 years old.

She leaves to mourn her death her mother, Mrs. Carrie Sandven, and the following brothers and sisters, Obed Sandven of Muskegon, Mich., Mrs. Ethel Giere of Newton, Mrs. Edith Rayburn of Long Beach, Cal., Mrs. Judith Rickey of Chicago, Ill., Reuben Sandven, Mrs. Esther Skarshaug and Joel Sandven of Roland.

Among those from a distance in attendance at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Giere and family, Mrs. Ed Newquist, Mrs. Fred Boese, Mrs. Hansen and H. S. Rayburn, of Newton, and Mrs. D. G. Rickey of Chicago.

CARD OF THANKS
We wish to extend our thanks to all the neighbors and friends for their assistance and sympathy extended during the illness and death of our daughter and sister. We wish to give special thanks to Rev. M. O. Sumstad and Rev. Olaf Holen for their visits and messages, to those who furnished music at the funeral and who contributed for flowers and gifts to missions and the parochial school in her memory.
