McCashen Funeral Held at Maxwell
Special to the Journal.
Maxwell, Aug. 16--Funeral services for H. C. McCashen were held Monday afternoon from the Presbyterian church with Rev. B. H. Guthrie in charge assisted by Rev. Elkenberry of Dallas Center. The songs Abide With Me, It is not death and Good Night, were sung by a double male quartet composed of Ross Olinger, Paul Olinger, Edwin Olinger, Clair Olinger, Harold Gamble, Dale John, Gurton Nelson and Lyle Scoss, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Boyd Martin. Pall bearers were Dave Pearson, C. B. French, J. E. Ward, Glen Scott, Morris Bowen, and Clyde McCord. Interment was in the Maxwell cemetery.Hugh C. McCashen was born in Sidney, Ohio, Oct. 30, 1872 and departed this life Aug. 10, 1934. He had been in failing health for two years since he was injured in a fall while working at the elevator. Mr. McCashen came to Maxwell 29 years ago and has made his home here since that time. Besides his wife he is survived by twin daughters, Mrs. Ray Skala of Des Moines and Mrs. Clarence Warrell of Maxwell, one sister Alice McCashen of Iowa City and one brother Wallace McCashen of St. Paris, Ohio, five grandchildren Beverly and Barbara Warrell of Maxwell, Jean, Lee and Jerry Ray Skala and a host of friends.
Some relatives from a distance attending the services were Mrs. Walter Raugh of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Sidney John and Mr. and Mrs. John J. John, W. T. John of Burt.
