SLEEPING SICKNESS CAUSED DEATH

FORMER STORY COUNTY MAN DIED AT LAKE CRYSTAL, MINNESOTA

Levi Helland, 41, son of a pioneer Story county family, died at his home near Lake Crystal, Minn., this morning, a victim of sleeping sickness, according to word received by his sister Mrs. John W. Peterson of 1319 Fifth street, Nevada.

The man was taken ill four weeks ago last Saturday and the family had been under quarantine since the case was diagnosed as sleeping sickness. During the past week it had been thought that he was showing signs of recovery and death came as a surprise.

Levi Helland was a son of Lewis Helland of nine miles northeast of Nevada. He leaves besides his wife, one son and one daughter. His father, a stepmother, six sisters and five brothers.

The sisters are Mrs. J. E. Sampson of Roland, Mrs. Pete Hanson of Forest City, Mrs. J. W. Peterson of Nevada, Mrs. George Huntrods of Campton, Calif., Mrs. Max Hangertner of Casper, Wyoming and Mrs. Frank Kulow of Algona.

The brothers are Peter Helland of Scarville, Allen of Belle Plaine, Leonard of Los Angeles and Arthur and Ernest of Forest City.
