Scott Funeral at Roland on Monday

Special to the Journal.
Roland, April 4--Funeral services for Mrs. Christena Scott, who passed away Friday afternoon was held Monday afternoon at Salem church following a brief prayer service at the home of her sister, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Handeland, with Rev. Olaf Holen in charge. The songs "Jesus Is the Same Today" and "It is Well With My Soul" were sung as duets by Mr. and Mrs. O. S. Boyd. The pall-bearers were J. V. Rasmussen, O. S. Hanson, Geo. Olson, J. O. Josendal, M. O. Ferkin and B. J. Solyst. Burial was made in the Roland cemetery.

Mrs. Scott, who was a native of Norway was born April 8, 1862, and came to America about 4 years ago to this community. After a year's time she went to Marshalltown and was married to Thomas Scott, who passed away over twenty years ago. They moved to Roland about 30 years ago where later she managed the Roland hotel. After retiring from this work she purchased the home where she since lived until shortly before her death. The past three months she has been cared for by her sister Mrs. J. A. Handeland at their ome.

She was the mother of six children, two of them died in infancy and three Hjelmer Scott, Mrs. Louis Hill and Mrs. Kinsey Thompson died a number of years ago. Miss Margaret Scott of Chicago is the only surviving member of the family.

Among those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mrs. Adelaide Smedal, O. R. Solem, Mrs. Carrie Hill, Louis Hill of Nevada and Miss Margaret Scott of Chicago.
