T. J. LYMAN DIED HERE EARLY TODAY
HAD BEEN RESIDENT OF NEVADA SINCE 1886--CHILDREN ALL HERE
Thomas J. Lyman, 72, for over 42 years a resident of Nevada, died at Iowa sanitarium early today from heart trouble and other complications.
Mr. Lyman had been failing for some time in health, in fact had never fully recovered from the effects of an injury sustained in an accident a few years ago.
The seven children had all been with him in his last day and all will be here for the funeral and interment.
Mr. Lyman leaves besides his seven children, his wife Emily Lyman and three brothers, all of California.
Funeral services will be held at the Morfoot Funeral Home, Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, after which interment will be in the Nevada cemetery.
Thomas Jefferson Lyman was born July 2, 1862 in Greenville, Alabama and died at one in the morning, March 3, 1934 at the Iowa sanitarium, Nevada, Iowa. At an early age his family moved to North Topeka, Kansas. He attended Kansas University at Laurence and then spent several years moving in the west.
In 1886 he moved to Nevada, Iowa, where he engaged in the implement business and the manufacture of tile. Later he took the agency for the American Express and served in this capacity for many years. He was a member of the Royal Neighbors.
October 10, 1886 he was married to Emily Dipple of Topeka, Kansas. To this union eight children were born, P. Charles, Lillian, Lloyd E., Ethel, Eva, Thomas and Frederick J. The son Thomas died in infancy.
He is survived by his wife Emily and his three brothers, Frank Lyman and Charles Lyman of Fresno, Calif, and Will Lyman of Van Nyes, Calif., and the children P. Charles Lyman and Frederick Lyman of Nevada, Iowa, Lloyd Lyman of Hale, Mo., Mrs. Roy Galvin of Holstein, Iowa, Lillian Lyman of Des Moines, Helen Lyman of Gary, Indiana and Eva Lyman of Wichita, Kansas.
