FUNERAL OF MR. WALKER

Was Native of Slater and Died at Reno, Nevada

Special to the Journal.
Slater, Nov. 16--Funeral services for Howard Austin Walker, 41, were held at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Torkel Walker, Saturday afternoon. Rev. C. Vank had charge of the services and spoke briefly in the two languages. Two duets "My Faith Look Up to Thee" and "I Can Hear My Saviour Calling" were sung by Mrs. M. S. Heggen and Mrs. A. L. Peterson. Howard Walker was born July 19, 1886 and died November 8, 1927 at Reno, Nevada. He was graduate of the Slater schools in the class of 1904. The greater part of his life was spent in California and Nevada. He had been failing in health the past several years. He is survived by his father and step-mother and four sisters, Mrs. Jessie Freed of Huxley, Mrs. Ida Johnson of Cedar Rapids, Miss Theresa Walker of New York City and Mrs. Ella Larson of Slater. The pall bearers were A. Maland, Ed Winsett, J. C. Ersland of Nevada, A. L. Peterson, P. L. Hill and Burton Larson. Interment was made in the local cemetery. Among those from out of town who attended the services were Miss Alma Walker of Morris, Ill., Mrs. Martha Forester and Miss Carrie Gjerdevig of Des Moines, Mrs. J. C. Johnson of Cedar Rapids, Miss Theresa Walker of New York City and Mr. and Mrs. O. T. Freed of Huxley.
