Death of Former McCallsburg Man

Special to the Journal.
McCallsburg, Jan. 17--Chris Johnson, 46, former McCallsburg man, died at his home near Mapleton, Minnesota after a long illness of Wednesday, January 3 according to word received by relatives here. His age was 46 years, 1 month and 21 days. Funeral was held the following Saturday from the West Lutheran church near Lura Lake. Rev. Dolven, pastor of the church officiated and interment in the cemetery there.

Mr. Johnson was born November 12, 1887 near McCallsburg, was baptized by Rev. Jacobson then pastor at Roland and confirmed, May 17, 1903 by Rev. G. Smedal also of Roland. He was married February 12, 1913 to Miss Bertha Vikre of Radcliffe, Iowa. In 1918 he moved with his family to Lake Crystal, Minnesota and two years later to Mapleton, where he passed away.

He leaves to mourn his death his wife and four children, his mother Mrs. A. G. Johnson of McCallsburg, Iowa, who was at his bedside, four brothers and three sisters, namely, Anthon G. of Des Moines; Carl of Austin, Minn.; Berdines L. of Columbus, Ohio; Mandius O. of Radcliffe, Iowa; Mrs. Jennie Wallis of Steelville, Mo.; Mrs. Inger Holm of Des Moines; and Mrs. Martin Grinde of Ackley, besides a host of relatives and friends.

Johnson and Mrs. Inger Holm of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Grindle of Ackley; Mrs. Inger Vekre and Gilus Vekre of Radcliffe; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Miller of Hubbard, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Vero, Mr. and Mrs. Gundval Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Johnson and John Johnson of Kanawha; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Lura, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Bell and Corniel Lura of Thompson; Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Riman, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Thorsen, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Thorsen, Christ Thorsen and Oscar, Mabel and Selma Olson all of Lake Crystal, Minn.
