NEWSPAPER SOURCE UNKNOWN, Thursday, January 8, 1953. "FRED TOMLINSON DIED SATURDAY - Fred Thomas Tomlinson, son of Thomas and Jane Tomlinson, was born at Cortland, New York, on October 14, 1869, and departed this life on January 3, 1953. His early life was spent near Kellogg, until he moved with his parents to a farm north of Mitchellville. He was united in marriage to Frances M. Malone on December 23, 1895. To this union eleven children were born. The wife and four children preceded him in death. On September 7, 1926, he was united in marriage to Lizzie E. Sadler, who survives him. The surviving children are Bertha M. Thomas of Ira, Dewey of Minneapolis, Minn., Hazel French of Chapin, Chester L. of Des Moines, Doris Berkey of Mitchellville and Robert and Fred Jr. of Los Angeles, Calif. There are also twenty-five grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, one sister, Mary E. Sherman of Altoona and one brother George of Des Moines. For sixty years he lived in and around this community where he mad many friends. During the last few years, he has been mail messenger between the depot and the post office. He filled this position until his last illness. Services were held Monday afternoon at the Universalist church at 1:30, with interment in the Mitchellville cemetery.
