Funeral Services For Mrs. Belle Quam At Salem Lutheran Church

ROLAND -- Funeral services were held for Mrs. Belle Quam Sunday afternoon, December 5 at 2 o'clock a prayer service at the Erickson Funeral home and 2:30 at the Salem Lutheran church with Rev. Olaf Holen in charge. Music consisted of a solo by O. S. Boyd at the funeral home and a song by the Bergen Ladies Sextet at the church.

Pallbearers were Amos Quam, Jesse Quam, Lloyd Nelson, Maurice Thompson, Leonard Christian and Fred Hemnes. Interment was in the Roland cemetery.

Obituary

Clara Belle Quam was born July 25, 1878 at Goodland, Indiana to Rier and Anna Anderson and passed away December 1 at the age of 76 years, 4 months and 7 days. She was baptized February 23, 1880 in Norway, Illinois. She was confirmed November 6, 1892 at Bergen Lutheran church in Roland. She was united in marriage to Barton T. Johnson on September 12, 1897. To this union three children were born Orie Angeline, Rosey Tella and Floyd Obed who survives. Barton Johnson passed away July 30, 1903.

On August 17, 1912 she was united in marriage to John Helland who passed away October 29, 1926. On June 22, 1929 she was united in marriage to Edward Quam who passed away August 9, 1948.

She is survived by five sisters Frances (Mrs. Magnus Hemnes) of Story City, Ida Lura of Des Moines, Etta (Mrs. John Brown) of Plano, Illinois, Alta (Mrs. Christ Jensen) of Albert Lea, Minnesota, Myrtle (Mrs. Oscar Margokaw [should be Mangskau]) of Ellendale, Minnesota. One brother and two sisters preceded her in death.

She is also survived by eight step children, Amos and Jesse Quam of Roland, Herbert of Los Angeles and Homer of San Diego, also Elmyra (Mrs. Lloyd Nelson) of Des Moines, Cora (Mrs. Bill Langland of Los Angeles), Fern (Mrs. Clyde Halsey) of Los Angeles and Ruby (Mrs. Ernest Hayes) of Montor, Wisconsin.
