Mrs. Mary E. White Laid To Rest In Colo Cemetery

Colo--Funeral services for Mary E. White, who had lived for many years in the Hickory Grove community before coming to Colo, were held Friday afternoon at the Colo E. U. B. church with Rev. Roy Humphrey of Koszta officiating, assisted by Rev. Leo Wilson.

The casket bearers were Ross White, Wm. Barrett, Johnnie Handsaker, Don White, Merle Dickinson and Dr. M. L. Rankin.

Music was furnished by Mrs. Herman Woolhiser and Mrs. Wayne Handsaker accompanied by Donna Rankin.

Carolyn Brouhard cared for the flowers.

Many relatives were in attendance at the services. Burial was in the Colo cemetery.

Obituary

Mrs. J. E. White, a pioneer Story County resident, passed away November 2, at Des Moines at the age of 91 years and 3 days.

Mary Evelyn Taylor, daughter of Jacob and Sarah Ann Taylor was born October 30, 1863 in Howard County, Indiana. She came to Iowa with her parents in 1876.

She was united in marriage May 29, 1884 to Joseph Edmund White, who preceded her in death. To this union nine children were born five boys and four girls, Herbert L., Colo; Lulu, Mrs. Will Howell, Orange, Calif.; Hazel, Mrs. Roy Day, Scoby, Mont.; Archie, Popejoy; Joe, now in service at Monterey, Calif.; Dola, Mrs. Wilbur Siglin, Waterloo; Glendora, Mrs. Ellis Armstrong, Des Moines. Two sons, Gordon and Dale preceded her in death.

She was also survived by twenty grandchildren and thirty-three great grandchildren; a brother, Ted Taylor of Ames; a sister, Mrs. George Rainer, Albert Lea, Minn. and other relatives and friends.

She was united with the Church of God at an early age. She was a devoted wife and mother, always lending a helping hand.
