Henry J. Jacobson was born in Story county on a farm near Gilbert, Iowa on June 24, 1896. The son of Jacob and Martha Jacobson, he was baptized in the South St. Petri church and confirmed in the Immanuel Lutheran church at Story City.

He grew to manhood in the Gilbert community where he received his education in the Gilbert schools. His life was centered around his farm near Gilbert.

On Aug. 28, 1924, at Princeton, Ill. he was united in marriage to Thora Halleland of Story City. They spent twenty-five year of their married life on the farm. In the winter of 1949 they moved to Story City.

Although Henry had been seriously ill several times the past ten ears, he was able to continue his work through the generous help of many kind friends and neighbors. To those persons he was always deeply grateful.
